Race Horses Show Improved Appetities, Haircoat and Digestive Efficiency Babolna Stud in Babolna, Hungary, has 2,500 horses in its breeding program and is one of the largest breeding stables in the world. In February, 1991, a group of 28 Thoroughbred race horses were tested with Ration Plus supplementation.
Dr. Gabriss Krisztina, the stable veterinarian, and her staff evaluated seven variables as signs of overall health. (Weight gain was not an issue with the Babolna horses, which were regarded as easy keepers.)
According to Dr. Krisztina, "The appetite of the horses supplemented with Ration Plus has been improved compared with that of the control group...The material [Ration Plus] seemed especially good for the haircoat and the hooves."
No detrimental effects were observed, and 57.1 % showed significant improvements in 3 or more variables. Only 2 horses showed no significant improvement in any variable.
The findings are especially impressive because these are top quality horses- most judged to be in good condition to begin with. |
