Increased Beneficial Microbial Activity Found Clay Cannon, D.V.M. and Associated Regional and University Pathologists, Inc. of Salt Lake City tested the effect of Ration Plus on equine digestive microbial populations. Four healthy horses were fed quality alfalfa hay and oats for 20 days to establish a baseline, then supplemented with 4cc/day of Ration Plus for 30 days. Analysis of fecal samples revealed the following results: 1. The total number of bacteria per gram of feces increased with Ration Plus supplementation from 105 to 106. 2. More beneficial species were recovered in treated horses. 3. Streptococci were found less often and in smaller numbers. |
